A realistic, self-defensive martial arts program designed to give our students the skills necessary to recognize and avoid conflict, as well as defend themselves if a situation becomes physical. Students learn the art of Shorindokai Karate, which encompasses techniques from Judo, Jujitsu, Taekwondo, and Shorin-ryu Karate. Classes are taught through both traditional and contemporary training techniques. We offer classes for Families to train together, as well as Kid and Teen/Adult specific class times.

Judo- ages 8 and up
Translated as "the gentle way" and the parent art to modern Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Judo was created in the 1880's by Professor Jigoro Kano. Kano wanted an art that was safe to practice at full force by any age or skill level. The maxim of Judo is "maximum efficiency with minimum effort". The goal of Judo is to use leverage or the opponent's own motion against them to effortlessly put them on the ground where they are no longer a threat.
TFC JuJitsu Program- Ages 10 and up
Founded in 2004, this self-defense system has proven to be not only an effective approach to fighting
but bridges the gap between theory and application. The selection of techniques for each range (ground, grappling, striking, kicking, and weapons ranges) was vetted by MAUA instructors with over 50 years of combined experience. TFC JuJitsu uses sets of techniques (comprised from Brazilian and Japanese Jujitsu, Filipino Arts, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Judo), categorized by range, to teach self-defense concepts. This is what makes the system unique.
This program is only available to students ages 7 and up who have earned intermediate/advanced ranks in either the Karate or Judo classes. The Leadership Program is designed to expound upon the values and life skills that are already taught in the other programs. More emphasis is put on leadership and responsibility, and more is expected from the leadership student. Students enrolled in this program are required to study both karate and judo and learn martial arts weapons to reinforce and improve their empty handed skills. As leaders, they are also required to take an active roll in the development of Junior ranked students in both classes.
